The FMO, a respected forum for the UK optical industry, is as relevant to the world of optics today as when the organization was first set up in 1917. Working closely with government departments, particularly the Medical Devices Agency, it represents optical companies – large and small - that are involved in all aspects of manufacturing, importing and wholesaling of spectacles.
Supporting its members and keeping them abreast of legislative changes both within the UK and internationally, are key roles of the FMO.
The UK’s major optical showcase that is the launch pad for all that is new in the field – OPTRAFAIR™, held every two years in Birmingham, is the FMO’s internationally respected exhibition.
Representing, monitoring, promoting and protecting the interests of its members, the FMO works closely with relevant groups, often negotiating with government departments on behalf of its members.
Providing the means to exchange views, and to encourage co-operation between members and other trade groups on matters of common interest, the FMO offers advisory and legal support in key issues affecting the profession.
