OEMSA - Optical Equipment Manufacturers' and Suppliers' Association (OEMSA)

The objects for which the Association is established are:

  1. To promote, protect and further the interests of the members of the Association;
  2. To provide means for the exchange of views and to encourage agreement and co-operation between the members of the Association and between this Association and other Trade Groups of the Federation of Manufacturing Opticians on matters of common interest;
  3. To watch over, propose, support or oppose any measures which may affect or tend to affect the trade interests of the members of the Association as well as the actions of governments and other authorities, and to represent the needs and opinions of members to governments, other authorities and bodies generally upon any matters wherein the members have trade interests;
  4. To act jointly or in co-operation with other Trade Groups of the Federation of Manufacturing Opticians in furtherance of the objects of this Association or the interests of the members; and
  5. To do all such other things as may in the opinion of the Association be incidental or conducive to the attainment of these objects or the furtherance of the interests of the members.

Members:

The membership of the Association shall consist of established companies, firms, partnerships and persons which are involved in the manufacture of optical instruments and machinery, and/or equipment and supplies, or importers and distributors of such items throughout the United Kingdom.

OFIMA - Optical Frame Importers' and Manufacturers' Association (OFIMA)

The objects for which the Association is established are:

  1. To promote, protect and further the interests of the members of the Association;
  2. To provide means for the exchange of views and to encourage agreement and co-operation between members of the Association and between this Association and other Trade Groups of the Federation of Manufacturing Opticians on matters of common interest;
  3. To watch over, propose, support or oppose any measures which may affect or tend to affect the trade interests of the members of the Association, as well as the actions of governments and other authorities, and to represent the needs and opinions of the members to governments, other authorities and bodies generally upon any matters wherein the members have trade interests;
  4. To act jointly or in co-operation with other Trade Groups of the Federation of Manufacturing Opticians in furtherance of the objects of this Association or the interests of the members;
  5. To do all such other things as may in the opinion of the Association or of its Executive Committee be incidental or conducive to the attainment of these objects or the furtherance of the interest of the member.

Members:

Membership of the Association shall be restricted to members of the Federation of Manufacturing Opticians that are:

  1. Established concerns which manufacture spectacle frames in the United Kingdom for ophthalmic purposes or parts thereof;
  2. Established concerns engaged in the business of importing into the United Kingdom and the distribution therein of spectacle frames manufactured outside the United Kingdom, where such business constitutes a significant part of the business of the concern;
  3. It is a requirement of the membership that members shall forward statistical figures to a suitable secure organisation as the Executive Committee shall from time to time require.

OLMADA - Ophthalmic Lens Manufacturers', Assemblers' and Distributors' Association (OLMADA)

The objects for which the Association is established are:

  1. To represent the interests of its members; to liase with other groups having similar interests, and to negotiate as may be necessary with Government Departments and others on behalf of its members;
  2. To safeguard and maintain the highest possible standard of prescription house work;
  3. To do all such things as may in the opinion of the Association or its Committee be incidental or conducive to the attainment of these objects.

Members:

Membership of the Association is available to any firm or company that is recognised as actively engaged in the distribution and manufacture of ophthalmic lenses or assembly of spectacles.

Membership of the Association is limited to one nominated company in an optical group.

The Association shall reserve the right to inspect the premises of any applicant for membership or of any existing member to establish eligibility for membership.

OPTRA - Optra Exhibitions UK (OEUK)

The objects for which the Association is established are:

  1. To represent, promote, protect, monitor and further the interests of its members to liaise with other groups having similar interests, and to negotiate as may be necessary with Government Departments and others on behalf of its members;
  2. To provide means for the exchange of views, and to encourage agreement and co-operation between the members of the Association and between this Association and other Trade Groups of the Federation of Manufacturing Opticians on matters of common interest; and to act jointly in co-operation with other associations or federations in furtherance of the object of the Association or in the interest of its members;
  3. To promote, organise and administer, from time to time, trade fairs, exhibitions, conferences and other activities for the general benefit of members;
  4. To afford the members of the Federation all such advisory legal or other desired assistance as shall appear fit and proper to the Federation or its council; and
  5. To do all such other things as may in the opinion of the Federation or its Council be incidental or conducive to the attainment of these objectives.

Members:

The membership of the Association shall consist of the founder members and such other companies, partnerships, firms and persons which being already members of the FEDERATION of MANUFACTURING OPTICIANS through membership of one of the affiliated Associations of that Federation may subsequently be admitted to membership of the Association in accordance with these Rules.
