DX WELCOMES FMO FOR TOUR

News Article Image
DX, the leading provider of specialist courier services to the optical sector, welcomed 40 FMO members to its North London facility last week to see how thousands of the industry’s parcels are dispatched around the UK every day.

The visit also hosted the regional meetings of the FMO’s frame, lens and equipment focus groups, allowing each optical sector to share confidential market data.

The hub distribution depot, located near Brent Cross, holds the highest Home Office security accreditation, and is responsible for the dispatch of legal and secure mail items.

FMO members receive enhanced account management and preferential rates from DX, a benefit which is widely appreciated.

Before the guided tour DX Sales Director, David Sorensen, explained that the company had been formed 35 years ago at the time of industrial action by Royal Mail, initially to meet the needs of the legal profession. The company now has a turnover of £170m with 16 account managers dedicated to looking after the optical sector.

Highly automated and using the most advanced tracking systems, DX is constantly striving to ensure the highest quality service through constant investment.

Future developments under discussion, of possible interest to FMO members, include a collection service for independent opticians which leverages the DX nationwide coverage, as an alternative to the Royal Mail Counter Service.
